A Calming Presence

You may feel apprehensive, perhaps you are thinking about your future and are waiting for something to happen or change. Maybe you’re nervously wondering what tomorrow will hold. If this is the case today, you might benefit from reconnecting with your rational mind and focusing on existing facts rather than any interpretations you may be entertaining. If you do, any anxious thinking you may feel about the future could subside. You might consider giving your complete attention to whatever happens to be in front of you today. The present moment is the only reality requiring your immediate attention. If your thoughts begin to drift to the future, or you find yourself becoming tense or emotional again, take a deep breath and focus on the present.

When we wish to remain calm and serene, we can do so by bringing our attention back to the present moment. If we actively remain present, we find there is no room or use for worry about what the future may or may not hold. Concentrating on the now gives us the chance to see to precisely what we have in front of us at this very second. When we are clearly focused on what we are experiencing right now, we can free ourselves from worry. Remain present today and you will free yourself from anxiety about the future.
